Bow Drill Fire Starter Kit
Survival Kook's Bow Drill Fire Starter Kit looks like some newfangled piece of fitness equipment, but in fact, it is based on a very oldfangled hand tool. Prehistoric old, in fact. Also known as a fire drill, the bow drill uses an assembly of a bamboo hand crank, the bow, a vertical spindle for grounding, and a wood fire board with notches for placement and stability.
To light a fire, put a piece of tinder under the fire board and rub the bow back and forth with your hand. This generates smoke in the hole, which accelerates to Fire in the hole! when it ignites the tinder.
