Will turning any eating utensils into tongs have you singing "The Tong Song?" Or rather, "The Anytong Song?" Hmmm, maybe.
Anytongs are indeed an interesting kitchen gadget, essentially a spring-loaded plastic handle with interior notches for attaching spoons, forks, sporks, and whatnot to create your own pair of tongs from pieces of silverware you've already got. Anytongs makers say their invention makes it easy to swap out dirty utensils with clean ones, ensuring you have countless fresh, hygienic pairs of tongs to use that won't clutter up your kitchen drawers.
Sounds alright to me. But just alright. Usually when I grab a pair of tongs, it's tong time right now. As in, I don't have time to fiddle with forks and spoons, deciding which I need, and snapping them into place to create my pair of Anytongs. And when it comes to serving food to guests at a dinner party, well, I kind of need my silverware for their place settings. So they, like, have something to eat the food with.
But I'm no chef or entertaining maestro, so what do I know? Maybe those of you dudes and ladies who spend more time in the kitchen will find Anytongs the best invention since regular tongs. Or the Whisk Wiper. If you're down with Anytong t-tong tong, tongs, let me know.
