Check It Out

When the Dark Knight rises he'll be chillin' in carbon fiber, revving a 700 HP V12 engine, and surging from 0 to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds. The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 makes its big screen debut--and probably one of its only US debuts, given the wait list for this Italian bull is currently a year--under the command of Bruce Wayne in the last installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.

News of the Aventador's role in The Dark Knight Rises poured out last fall--even fans were getting footage of its presence on set, per one of the videos above--but we're still looking forward to inhaling the Bat toys and general souped-uppedness Hollywood's film, sound, and FX pros will have surely added to the already kinda mind-blowing Lambo.

A few specs. The Aventador LP 700-4 body and chassis begin with a carbon fiber monocoque and aluminum front and rear frames that are covered in: a carbon fiber engine bonnet; movale spoiler and side air inlets; aluminum front bonnet, front fenders, and doors; and an SMC rear fender and rocker cover. Precise handling and buttery joyrides are controlled by a front and rear horizontal monotube damper with push-rod suspension system and dry double plate clutch. Max speed is 217 mph. In-city gas mileage--come on, you know you want a laugh--is 8.6 miles per gallon.

According to Lamborghini, its latest iteration of speed, performance, and instant hard-ons is named after a bull called Aventador, who displayed unparalleled courage that won him the Trofeo de la Pea La Madroera at Spain's Saragossa Arena in October 1993. Very poetic. Too bad once The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters everyone's just going to refer to is as "Batman's whip".
