The Aperture Wrench

Wrenches and camera lenses: together at last. As it turns out, the seeming odd couple industrial designer Jordan Steranka paired up to create his Aperture Wrench concept is a completely logical and elegantly handy pair. The wrench handle is more or less a standard issue, but its head manually expands and contracts in the center, just like the aperture of a camera, to allow it to fit a wide range of nut sizes. One tool to replace a dozen.
Aperture Wrench sizing is controlled with a dial at the head end. The edge of the tool has a concave shape to facilitate access to the dial, itself fitted with grooves for finger traction. Capping off Steranka's stellar application of his thinking cap: a light ring around the aperture of the spanner with a push button activation for changing the tire when it's dark or fixing the sink in subdued lighting.
