Brass Whack-It Mini Hammer
If I had a hammer - and especially if I had a Brass Whack-It mini hammer - I'd-a hammer in the morning, I'd-a hammer in the evening, all over this la-and! The Brass Whack-It is a self-described "solid brass whacking device," and can I just say, finally! This is the kind of Kickstarter campaign, and new product in general, I'm talkin' about.
Simple, small, seemingly made with precision and excellence, and something I haven't seen before: Lance Barnett's Brass Whack-It is the first project that's had me low-key excited in a long time. And I only use the words "low-key" because Barnett isn't trying to invent the next wheel or VR living experience here; he's just come up with a clever new tool, and made it look very cool. Made me say my own name, and the name of my website when I saw it!
Machinist, fabricator, welder, FAA certified aircraft mechanic, and pilot Barnett developed the Brass Whack-It under the belief that wee small jobs don't need big ass tools. Some examples:
- Hammering small tacks or nails
- Jewelry making
- Nut cracking
- Spin top bearing setting
The Brass Whack-It can knock out all of the above with elegance, and without the fanfare of hauling out the whole toolbox and hefting up the 9lb hammer. No wait, make that the 1lb hammer. You can probably use the 9lb hammer and the Whack-It simultaneously without too much risk of injury. I'm particularly intrigued by the mini hammer's possibilities as a nutcracker.
The Brass Whack-It is handcrafted from non-marring, corrosion-resistant Naval Brass. If you want to see a little more of it, head over to Barnett's Kickstarter campaign page, and if you want to see a lot more of it, pledge for a Brass Whack-It of your own through April 3, 2022.
