The VirZOOM Virtual Reality Exercise Bike delivers both active and passive health benefits. First, the person riding the bike and participating in its arcade of racing, shooting, trapping, and pegasus-flying VR games gets the physical activity and benefits of pounding the pedals of a stationary bike. Presumably in a way that's more engaging, fun, and challenging than RPM-ing mindlessly in front of the TV, either at home or at the gym. Second, anyone in the room with the rider gets the endorphin rush of ROFL-ing as they watch a dude in a giant headset sitting on a bike that doesn't move mime-shoot tanks and dip through canyons all sweaty and huffing for breath.

The VirZOOM system includes a folding VR controller--the bike!--plus all existing and forthcoming VirZOOM Arcade games. Games are currently compatible with PlayStationVR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift; headsets are sold separately.

The VirZOOM bike has built-in sensors that measure pedaling speed, plus action buttons, triggers, and a d-pad on the handlebars to conduct both simple and complex gameplay. Unlike most stationary bikes, the VirZOOM handlebars have some flexure to them, so you can steer by leaning your body side-to-side. The bike can also track heart rate. Sounds like a pretty good gift for a geek committed to getting in shape without leaving the house, or even straying too far from his console.
